  • Description

Al-Basta in Abha is one of the oldest historical neighborhoods, which still retains the fragrance and smell of the past and the simplicity of people in the past. It is a heritage neighborhood that consists of a group of ancient buildings and castles, some dating back to the Ottoman era, with a public square in the middle and some old traditional shops. It is located on the banks of the Abha Valley in the center of the city and connects it to the bank. The other side of the city is an old Ottoman bridge built since the era of the Ottoman Empire. “Al Basta Neighborhood” is called by this name due to the presence of places of sale and (rugs) vendors. Al Basta was famous for its beautiful market, where handicrafts shops, locally made and imported ornaments, and some carpets, clothes, ceramic utensils, and women’s crafts varied. At that time, it was an outlet for shoppers.
